Practical tips:

Listening efficiently

  • Shared Notes System: One attendee shared that she and a friend take notes collaboratively on favorite episodes. They highlight actionable tips and flag episodes the other should prioritize.

Being a great podcast guest

  • Focus on stories: Share personal and professional anecdotes instead of presenting a long, step-by-step guide of your ideas.
  • Engage with hosts: Want to connect with a great host? Reach out on LinkedIn, but don’t pitch yourself outright – engage authentically and let your profile speak for itself.
  • Prepare soundbites: Keep your answers concise and impactful. Long-winded responses can turn off listeners.

Finding opportunities

  • Use platforms like Matchmaker.fm, PodMatch and Source Bottle to connect with podcasters.
  • Add “Podcast Guest” to your LinkedIn header to attract hosts.

Streamline your workflow

  • RecurPost: Automate podcast episode distribution through RSS feeds.
  • Asana: Use project management tools for episode planning and scheduling.

Why podcasting?

If you’re “pod-curious” – thinking about starting your own podcast – now’s the time to take the leap. Attendees highlighted how podcasting can:

  • Connect you with VIPs. Interviewing guests can open doors to more collaboration opportunities.
  • Build thought leadership. Hosting or guesting boosts visibility and credibility.
  • Foster authentic conversations by sharing relatable stories and building audience trust.

  • I was bummed to miss it yesterday but I had so many tech issues I was only in for ten minutes and didn’t get the chance to suggest the Leverage Your Podcast show which I highly recommend for hosts, guests, and the “prosecutions”.

I will be updating the resources page of my website soon with a bunch of great podcasts for those in the podcasting space but wanted to at least get this one shared.

    • Thanks so much for sharing this, Anastasia! I’ll make sure to include it. So sorry again that Zoom was such a pain – hopefully everything runs more smoothly next time!
