The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) announced that Chicago will be the first stop on its three-city National Networking Summit Series. The day-long event will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 26 at the Navy Pier, Lakeview Terrace. The event is sponsored by Cargill, Insight, Owens Corning, the US Navy and the University of Phoenix.
“Networking is an essential part of professional development and personal growth,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “We’re thrilled to bring this exciting event to Chicago, and we are equally hopeful that our Professional Diversity Career Fair will result in new jobs or job leads in a city where unemployment is hovering near six percent.”
The event highlights include the “Whole Woman Power Panel” moderated by Ms. Jones; a Professional Diversity Career Fair presented by Professional Diversity Network, the parent company of NAPW; and a Career Pavilion with nearly 30 hiring companies, including Associated Bank, Calumet Specialty Products, DeVry University, NorthShore University Health System, Robert Half and Roche Diagnostics, among others. Dynamic business leaders and entrepreneurs Diane Alexander, Life Cycle Foundation; Sarah Baker, StyleBodySoul;Yuri Brown-Cruzat, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago; Freida Curry, Women’s Business Development Center; and Lisa Rosenzweig, myFootpath are speakers on the “Whole Woman Power Panel,” and nationally-known brand expert Melissa Dawn Simkins will lead two seminars on how to create, maintain and present a professional and personal brand.
The event begins at 11 am with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the NAPW Mall, where retail vendors and NAPW VIP members can showcase their products and services, and NAPW World—a designated area where attendees can purchase NAPW merchandise, sign up for membership in the organization and learn about the 200+ NAPW Local Chapters across the country.
