VIVICA: First, I’ve learned to work smarter not harder. I’ve learned to say no if I really don’t want to do something. Angela Bassett told me, ‘You don’t have to dance to every record.’ I was like, ‘Agreed, Queen!’
NATASHA: We’re entering the era of the woman. There has never been a better time in history to be a female entrepreneur than today. What do you hope women take away from your story?
VIVICA: I want women to take from my book, “Every Day I’m Hustling,” that you can have it all by being organized and true to you. Focus on what works for you and not what works for others.
NATASHA: Many thought leaders have talked about the importance of one’s circle. You said it in a blunt way that gave me goosebumps: “I get to choose the value of my crowd.” What type of impact has that had on the way you decide which people to let in and out of your life?
VIVICA: I call that a reason for a season. In life, I’ve learned to shed folks who are negative and takers. I deserve reciprocal relationships. My friend, Darren Bond, told me I had to learn that I don’t have to buy my friends and stop giving to those who don’t deserve my time and energy and hard-earned money.
NATASHA: You’ve checked the acting box. The businesswoman box. The marriage box, as you so candidly shared. What’s the next box Vivica A. Fox wants to check off in her new chapter?
VIVICA: Directing is definitely in the next new chapter I want to check off. I’m good at what I do and totally enjoy creating and delivering quality movies, television shows and plays for all to watch and enjoy.
NATASHA: It’s a pleasure to share your story with our readers. Keep rocking it for women and girls everywhere!
VIVICA: Thank you, too, darling. So appreciate that love and support!
Released on April 3, “Every Day I’m Hustling” is available at a number of retail outlets including Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
