Venture Capital Is On The Rise For Female Founders

Venture capital is finally making its way into the hands of female founders and the third quarter of 2018 is looking pretty good for us.

Women are launching companies at a historic rate. Venture capital is finally making its way into the hands of female founders. Pitchbook says this may even be a historic quarter for us.

Today they announced TheRealReal and ClassPass, two companies founded by women, received major funding rounds. Both companies are a part of a trend that may make the third quarter of 2018 historic in its own right.

“So far in 3Q 2018, female founders in the US have brought in a higher percentage of venture capital funding than any quarter in recent history, according to PitchBook data. That’s true for companies with solely female founders, and especially so for companies with at least one woman on the founding team.

Since the beginning of 3Q, 4.6 percent of VC funding in the US has gone to startups with exclusively female founders. That’s up from 2.9 percent last quarter and just about 2 percent for all of last year,” Pitchbook reported.
