Cathal Greaney, the founder of IrishApps.org, a company that creates mobile apps based in Ireland, said cybersquatting (or domain squatting) has been on the rise since 2011.
“It has emerged quickly since 2011 when the authority that controls generic top level domains (gTLDs) decided to expand these and allow companies to apply for new ones,” Greaney said. “The USA is the top country to file domain name cases and retail is the top industry.”
