On Feb. 27Â Stitch Fix will begin styling plus clients
Stitch Fix, the world’s leading online personal styling service, announced today the launch of Stitch Fix Plus, an offering that will include the most comprehensive range of apparel and price points in online personal styling for plus size women. With over 75,000 women signed up on the waitlist, and years of research and development by the Stitch Fix team, the company is ready to launch its Plus offering to millions of women nationwide. It comes on the heels of the retailer’s expansion into the men’s apparel market with Stitch Fix Men in September 2016.
“While it is very rewarding to be in the business of helping women and men look and feel their best, Stitch Fix’s offering felt incomplete without being able to serve a more comprehensive range of women’s sizes. Our Plus team invested a lot of time and resources in order to bring the same great client experience to life and we’re thrilled to be able to offer a personalized styling service that is a broader reflection of American women today,” said Katrina Lake, founder and CEO of Stitch Fix. “We are thrilled to expand our service for everybody and every body — tall or petite, size 2 or size 24, bold or reserved, starting a new job, starting a family or starting fresh. We will now deliver personalized style that gives every woman, regardless of shape, taste or budget, the style she is looking for through a convenient, personalized shopping experience.”
To understand the needs of its Plus clients, Stitch Fix created a dedicated fit team comprised of trained stylists who specialize in the plus sector, focusing on sizing, fit, customer pain points and product development. In addition, Stitch Fix created the Curvy Style Council, which includes three leading plus-size style bloggers —Allison Teng, Kristine Thompson and Alexandra Thomas — who lent their thought leadership in the space and provided real-time feedback on product fit, trends, brand partners and product assortment.
“Like everyone, this woman wants to look and feel great! We’re excited to help her find the right, stylish product she loves. With our Plus fit team and Curvy Style Council committed to ensuring consistency in fit and more than 200 specifically-trained plus stylists, Stitch Fix Plus will continue to revolutionize the shopping experience for women,” shared Lake.
The Stitch Fix Plus assortment was created in partnership with top Plus brands and new vendors to develop the best product mix consistent with the fit, style and quality of Stitch Fix’s broad assortment. Stitch Fix Plus will offer a range of styles from more than 90 broad-based recognizable and smaller up-and-coming brands including City Chic, Eloquii, Kiyonna, Junarose Slink Jeans and Universal Standard, as well as exclusive brands including Market & Spruce, Pixley and 41Hawthorn.
The contemporary and popular plus retailer, Eloquii, will be available in Stitch Fix Plus’s assortment. “The opportunity to experience fashion should not be limited by a woman’s size. Our partnership with Stitch Fix offers us an opportunity to introduce our brand to even more women throughout the U.S. We’re excited to continue to move the fashion industry forward and we’re proud to partner with Stitch Fix as they add sizes 14 and beyond,” said Mariah Chase, CEO of Eloquii.
Sizes will include 14W-24W, 1X-3X, in addition to existing women’s sizes of 0-16, XS-XXL, maternity, petite and multiple lengths of pants and denim to accommodate varying heights. Stitch Fix Plus will be seamlessly incorporated into the existing brand and site experience. Women simply visit StitchFix.com, sign up and fill out a Style Profile to share their size and style preferences. A personal stylist, specifically trained on how to style Plus sizes, selects five items of apparel, footwear, and accessories that best fit a client’s unique taste, budget, lifestyle and special requests. The items are shipped right to her door, where she can try on her Fix in the comfort of her own home and buy what she wants and send the rest back with free shipping both ways and free exchanges.
