Historian, author and podcaster Carol Ann Lloyd mines overlooked stories and classic plays to share leadership lessons that still matter in the modern day. She’s written two books and hosts the British History: Royals, Rebels, and Romantics podcast.
What makes your business one of a kind?
I am Carol Ann Lloyd, a historian who loves Shakespeare and believes that our best plan for moving forward with confidence is looking back to history! The stories of women and men through the years reveal timeless strategies for leadership success, and Shakespeare’s plays are basically case studies on leadership. I have a unique perspective on leadership, seeing what lasts over time. I can help organizations and individuals put hundreds of years of success to work for them right now.
What inspired you to start your business?
I was living on two tracks: speaking to museum and theatre audiences about history and leading workshops about leadership and communication. I realized my greatest contribution would be bringing those ideas together. Now I offers programs connecting history and today and strategies for timeless leadership.
History shows us what’s possible. It’s full of fun, jokes, spies and people who did amazing things, both good and bad. History helps us understand people and make decisions, so we can learn from the past and build a better future.

What’s your proudest milestone so far?
I’m most proud of publishing my two books Courting the Virgin Queen and The Tudors By The Numbers. I also have another under contract.
Who’s a female entrepreneur that inspires you?
I’m inspired by historians who take on the standard stories of leadership, meaning military and political prowess and share these stories in their own way. I really admire Dr Suzannah Lipscomb. She has turned the world of the sixteenth century into something that applies to women today.
