Innovation Women and Lioness Magazine to Sponsor Virtual Massachusetts Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Event

The Massachusetts event features a fireside chat with Jules Pieri, author and founder; a female founder panel and networking opportunities

Innovation Women and Lioness Magazine will sponsor a virtual Massachusetts Women’s Entrepreneurship Day event on Thursday, November 19, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event is free but pre-registration is required. In addition, the group is partnering with the Rhode Island Women’s Entrepreneurship Day team to cross-promote events.

The Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization (WEDO) celebrates, empowers, and supports women in business and helps alleviate gender-based poverty. The goal of the Massachusetts event is to expand the community of female founders, connecting early-stage entrepreneurs with more established women entrepreneurs so they can learn from their successes and mistakes.

According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted working women at far greater rates than men. These women may now be starting their own companies. At the end of Q3, the U.S. Census Bureau reported more than 1.5 million applications for Employer Identification Numbers, a 77.4% increase from the previous quarter.

Bobbie Carlton has been named the Massachusetts WEDO Ambassador

Bobbie Carlton, founder of Innovation Women, has been named the Massachusetts ambassador for Women Entrepreneurship Day. “I see the many hurdles female entrepreneurs face but I also see a lot of strength and generosity,” said Bobbie Carlton. “My companies emphasize visibility and connectivity and by working together I believe we can make progress on both our individual and collective business goals.”

The Massachusetts WEDO event will feature:

  • A fireside chat with Jules Pieri, author and entrepreneur
  • A panel discussion and breakout sessions with industry leaders: Rochelle Nemrow (Founder, Family ID), Aagya Mathur (Co-Founder/CEO, Aavia), Jenni Goodman (Community Manager, Underscore VC), Evy Chen (Founder, Evy Tea)
  • Networking and breakout sessions

Attendees will be able to move freely among the breakout sessions according to their interests.

This is the seventh annual Global WEDO Summit and numerous ambassadors will hold virtual WEDO events this year. In addition to the Global Summit and the Massachusetts event, other regional events will be held, including Rhode Island’s Mid-day Event, New Hampshire’s Full Day Event
