Building a brand for not only a business but also the person behind it can be a challenge and overwhelming for women just starting out. Heather DeSantis of DeSantis Public Relations is dedicated to building the best brand for each company she works with and helping all her clients put their best foot forward. Heather shared five tips with Lioness on how to build the best brand for female entrepreneurs.

“Be conscious of national awareness days.”
Each month there are a number of national awareness days. These are days such as National Social Media Day on June 30, Digital Marketing Day on July 21, or even something more lighthearted like International Cat Day on Aug. 8. DeSantis says this is a great way to reach out and connect with your community. She suggested Instagram and Twitter as platforms to advertise the national awareness day and relate it to something positive your business is doing.

“Keep a manifestation list.”

DeSantis is a big believer in manifestation lists. This has helped her to focus on her end goal and what she wants to achieve. It has also helped her to not get caught up in every little victory but to be level headed and see what still needs to be accomplished in order to be as successful as you dream of being. She advocates for all women entrepreneurs to keep daily checklists. This ensures you stay on task and stay in line with big goals and also every day achievements.

Heather DeSantis is the 29-year-old founder and CEO of DeSantis Public Relations.

“Be Intentional.”

Being honest and straightforward is an attractive trait of a person no matter what, but especially when starting a business. DeSantis advises that everyone should be honest about what you feel and what you want. People who think that positively and are outspoken about what they want in life will see success. Enjoying the process of finding this honest and direct side of yourself is a positive change that DeSantis is grateful she found for herself and hopes that all women can find it as well.

“Create a vision board.”

Creating a list of goals is a great idea but making a vision board takes it one step further. A vision board can be a poster or corkboard or any platform in which you can display pictures, printouts of inspirational quotes or cut-outs from magazines or newspapers. Everything on these vision boards should focus on the future and where and what you eventually want to achieve. Checking steps off of a list is satisfying but looking at a board of goals and seeing what you can achieve is very inspirational.

“Focus on what values you have and apply that to a trade.”

DeSantis said that what has worked well for her is taking positive action for her business from a place of service. She has volunteered and done work for free, while at the time may have been difficult, branded herself as a giving, generous person. She was able to use her kindness to add to her brand and create a lasting impact on her community as to what her business is all about.

DeSantis is the 29-year-old founder and CEO of DeSantis Public Relations. It is a freelance PR firm in California that focuses on “Public Relations with a purpose” DeSantis’s goal is to work with companies that have a good component.
