Glow Global Events announced that founder and CEO Cheryl Gentry has been selected from hundreds of nominees as one of Smart Meetings “Top Influential Women” for 2017. The groundbreaking media company selected Gentry in the Innovator category based on her contributions to the meetings industry. The Smart Women in Meetings Awards recognizes the industry’s top female meeting professionals. The awards ceremony will be held at the Ritz Carlton in Denver at the Smart Women Summit on April 28, 2017.

“I’m honored to be recognized by an industry-leading organization,” Gentry said, upon learning of the distinctive honor. “For almost two decades, I’ve worked tirelessly to establish Glow Global Events as the most innovative event planning company in the business. It feels wonderful to be recognized for my contributions in such a meaningful way.”

Gentry continues to push herself, her team and her organization to lead the pack in innovation in the industry. As CEO of the company, she manages more than $15 million dollars in event budgets each year while continually striving to deliver top-notch service and unrivaled solutions. These aspects of her business are impressive on their own, but as a certified minority, woman-owned business, she also serves as an entrepreneurial role model for women all over America.

As her company continues to evolve, Gentry has her sights set on the diversity-challenged world of tech. Currently, she’s developing an event tech platform, called Onsite Planner, which is set to revolutionize the event planning industry.

Throughout her career, Gentry has been recognized with a multitude of honors including the YWCA New York City Top Women Executives, Enterprise Magazine Customer Service Award, the Outstanding Small Business Award, the Howard University Alumni of the Year Award and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Outstanding Achievement Award. She also remains dedicated to giving back, serving on the boards of the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) and the Kigali Reading Center.

Smart Women in Meetings Awards winners will be featured in the March 2017 edition of Smart Meetings print and digital magazines.
