Running a Business As A Couple Myth: Fake It ‘Til You Make It

Don't believe the hype and myths of faking it til you make it. Couples need solid working and relationship skills in order to have a successful business together. Don't buy the hype. Instead, evaluate what it is you both require in order to achieve success together.

couplesIt’s time for some straight talk. There are many myths that couples who are running a business together believe or are sold. Most of them will sabotage your efforts and leave you both blaming each other because you are not getting the results you want. Power struggle ensues and couples fight and argue their way right into divorce court and wonder how they got there.

We all know that a huge part of what the media reports or marketers pitch is unrealistic and simply is false advertising. It is transparently obvious to anyone with half a brain that it is false and yet, many couples love to buy into hype anyway. For some reason it doesn’t matter if an awful, harmful, or outrageous fact comes out surrounding a product or the product creator if it’s your favorite product, you’ll end up buying it no matter what.

This especially happens with food and beverage products but also with business opportunity products. They sell the hype and many couples like to think they can fake it til they make it. Most couples love buying what they are told to buy vs. discerning what is right for them as couple in business together. Instead, they want to be sold someone else’s fabricated success story and this is where things begin to fall apart.

Couples love to buy the lie and yet this does not have to affect your running a business as a couple. Instead, you want to protect yourself from believing lies and myths because this will decrease your risk factor.

Couples running a business together take on more risk than other business structures and unless you can afford to lose money, you’ll want to protect yourselves from your wishful thinking that you can, fake it til you make it.

Wherever you are in your business you should never fake it til you make it. If you’re in any home based business this is so important because you can be deluding yourself as to how hard you’re working together and yet, not making any real money because you are faking that you know what you are doing in your business, when perhaps you don’t. If this is what you are doing, you most likely are having some big fights together.

You’re deluding yourself if you don’t think the marketer or large company doesn’t know you are faking it til you make it. This is why companies get away with manipulating you into buying that franchise or becoming part of a marginal MLM or Multi-Level Marketing opportunity. You must develop discernment and ask yourself, “Why do you choose not to look past the appeal and charismatic marketing?”

What would you both do instead of faking it til you make it, if you both knew how to evaluate a business opportunity, its strategies and systems to see if it fit both of you first? Would you feel safer, smarter and more confident knowing that you didn’t have to “fake it til you make it?”

What would you do if both of you had a strong basic business intelligence and could evaluate whether a business was right for you both or not? Wouldn’t this increase your ability to achieve success together?

How much stress could you mitigate if you had a powerful working relationship? How much stress would a powerful basic business intelligence and knowing how to properly evaluate your business plan or the opportunity someone was presenting you, relieve? Instead, wouldn’t you want to be stronger together vs. faking it til you make it?

Don’t believe the hype and myths of faking it til you make it. Couples need solid working and relationship skills in order to have a successful business together. Don’t buy the hype. Instead, evaluate what it is you both require in order to achieve success together.
