As the Halloween season rolls around, ease your fears about funding. In this roundup, we’ve gathered a feast of October grants and money resources. Read ahead for more details about what opportunities may best fit your business’s needs.
Black Girl Ventures: $5,000-$15,000
The Black Girl Ventures is seeking applicants from New York City and Los Angeles for their upcoming pitch program. Applicants are encouraged to align with the missions and goals of the brand, and no previous pitch experience is required. First place receives $15,000, second place receives $10,000, and third place receives $5,000.
The New York City deadline closes on October 9, 2024, and the Los Angeles applications close on November 6, 2024.
Walmart Spark Good Local Grants: $250-$5,000
The Walmart Spark Good Local Grants are aimed at addressing the challenges local businesses face across the country. The grant comes in a variety of monetary values based on local circumstances, business structure and fund availability. Upon receiving funds, businesses may be eligible to receive an official ceremony of acceptance at their nearest Walmart or Sam’s Club location.
Applications are reviewed three times a year. The current deadline closes October 15, 2024. The following round opens on November 1, 2024.
Fifteen Percent Pledge Achievement Award: $15,000-$200,000
In an effort to boost Black-owned businesses, Fifteen Percent Pledge is offering its Achievement Award for a third year in a row. Three Black-owned businesses with high growth potential will be selected as the winners. Applicants must have at least one self-identifying Black person with 50 percent or more equity in the business, among other criteria. The winner will receive $200,000 and consulting services, second place will receive $35,000 and third place will receive $15,000.
Applications close on October 16, 2024.
Freed Fellowship Grant: $500-$2,500
The Freed Fellowship offers a monthly grant of $500 to small business owners across the country. Each recipient is also eligible for $2,500 at the end of the year. Freed looks at several predetermined criteria for each applicant and offers criteria for improvements to all applicants, regardless of whether they receive a grant. Each applicant also receives two months of free consulting.
This is a recurring monthly grant. The October grant application closes on the 31st of the month.
Tory Burch Foundation: $5,000
The Tory Burch Foundation offers grant and loan opportunities for early-stage and woman-led companies. Applicants must have a woman with at least 51 percent equity in the company. 50 companies are selected each year. The winning companies receive $5,000, as well as an extensive peer network and other consulting resources.
Applications close on November 1, 2024.
Boundless Futures Foundation: Up to $25,000
The EmpowHer grant seeks businesses focused on making substantial improvements in poverty & hunger, sustainability & the environment, and strong communities. The grants are designed for businesses in their early stages. Businesses must be owned and operated by a female, earning revenue and no more than three years old. Applicants will be looked at as favorable if they are making a strong impact on their community.
This is a quarterly grant. The Q4 application closes on November 1, 2024.
Southern California Job Creators Grant: $5,000
Founders First will select ten businesses in Southern California for their Job Creators Grant. The grant is currently only accepting applicants with a business-to-business, or business-to-government model. The ten businesses will each receive a $5,000 grant, as well as a scholarship to a Founders First accelerator program.
Applications open October 15, 2024, and close November 11, 2024.
Techstars Accelerator
Techstars operates an “Anywhere Remote” accelerator for founders who are unable to relocate. A team of mentors guides founders throughout the program. Certain companies may also be eligible for additional investment from Techstars. Recipients can expect to receive extensive mentorship, consultations and additional resources for expanding their business.
Applications close on November 20, 2024.
Accion Opportunity Fund: $5,000-$250,000
The Accion Opportunity Fund offers small business loans, programs and coaching. Accion is a non-profit lender, so they repurpose the repayment money towards future loans. Applicants are also looked at regardless of credit score. Businesses are encouraged to avoid applying if they generate less than $50,000 in annual sales or have existed for less than one calendar year. AOF also offers coaching and additional resources to businesses that are not actively seeking funding.
Seed Fund
The Seed Fund looks for startups that are actively seeking to bring innovation to the tech industry. Priority is given to applicants who are driving for a meaningful impact on the industry by bringing products to scale on the open market. Companies must be 100 percent based in the United States and consist of less than 500 employees. Investment varies by the size and needs of the recipient.
Applications are on a rolling schedule and are accepted 24/7.
Etsy Emergency Relief Fund
The Etsy Emergency Relief Fund helps small businesses recover after suffering from major disasters. Businesses must be in good standing with Etsy for at least a year to be eligible. Applicants must be in a region with a federally declared disaster in the last year. Applications that are submitted automatically stay in the system for a year following the disaster. Grant amounts vary based on availability within the fund, as well as the scope of the business’s needs.
Applications are accepted year-round.
Purpose Rounds
Purpose Rounds offers community round funding for women founders that often find themselves overlooked and excluded. The community funding eliminates the need for a high cost of entry from investors, which allows people closer to the business’s goals to pitch in. Companies can raise anywhere from a few thousand dollars to millions based on their goals. The key to Purpose Rounds is finding investors that share strong community values with the businesses they invest in.
Applications are accepted year-round.
