Acquisitions

Autumn Worldwide

Grey Group, a WPP company, has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Autumn Worldwide, a leading independent social media and digital marketing agency, based in India. Autumn Worldwide was founded in 2005 by Anusha Shetty and Abhay Rajankar as a brand consulting and advertising company. CEO Shetty soon saw the opportunity and proceeded to expand Autumn into a 360° social media and digital agency which provides a multitude of services, including digital & social media campaigns, influencer & blogger marketing, online reputation management, content marketing, marketing big data & insights and Command Center Management Services (CCMS).

Shetty is a 20-year veteran of the communications industry. After completing her education with an MBA from TA Pai Management Institute, Shetty began her marketing career with Lowe Lintas in 1994. After five years, she joined Euro RSCG to work with the Intel brand. Two years later, she moved to Silicon Valley in the U.S. as the Marketing-Communications Lead for a start-up venture, Euclid. In 2003, she returned to India and joined Honeywell Technology, where she was named the Corporate Communications Head for APAC before she co-founded Autumn Worldwide in 2005. Shetty will continue to head the Autumn operations while working closely with Nirvik Singh, Chairman & CEO for Grey Group Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa, to set the overall strategic digital growth plan for the region.

Babo Botanicals

Kate Solomon, Founder and President of Babo Botanicals

Laboratoires Expanscience, a family-owned French pharmaceutical and dermo-cosmetics company specialized in skin health, announced today the acquisition of Babo Botanicals, LLC, the well-known U.S. based, botanically-infused mineral skin care brand for babies and adults. Babo Botanicals was founded in 2010 by Kate Solomon, a young mother searching for safe, efficacious, and natural products for her children.

The strategic acquisition of Babo Botanicals will allow Expanscience to strengthen its presence in the baby and family category, with the addition of a business and brand that are complementary to its own Mustela brand, in terms of product lines, customers and expertise, particularly in the natural skin care and mineral-based sun care categories.

“Being part of a company such as Expanscience, known for its expertise in safe product formulations, development of natural active ingredients, and its dedicated R&D and production center in France, is a tremendous opportunity for Babo Botanicals to further grow the brand and its visibility and presence globally,” Solomon said.

Launch

The Lobby

The Lobby, a personalized shopping concierge service that brings the store to the customer at the office announces their launch on November 5, 2018. Founded by Google veteran Abigail Holtz, The Lobby curates emerging brands — such as Greats, Cuyana, Margaux, and Michi — and lets customers request products to try on before they buy. The Lobby’s courier team then delivers items and picks up returns directly from the workplace, allowing shoppers to discover, try and buy without the hassle of return forms, trips to the post office or waiting for refunds on their credit card.

With a focus on direct-to-consumer brands that have a limited brick-and-mortar presence, The Lobby gives members the opportunity to try out brands they’ve only seen in their Instagram feed — without any risk. And for brands, the Lobby offers a new distribution channel that gets their products in the hands of stylish early-adopters.

Backed by top investors including SV Angel and Third Kind Venture Capital, The Lobby was inspired by Holtz’s own workplace experiences where coworkers regularly tried on clothing purchases at the office, using the bathroom as a makeshift dressing room. Noting how both the workplace and consumer shopping habits have changed over the past decade, Holtz and team set off to re-imagine shopping for millennial consumers, focusing on the thing’s millennials value most: hyper-convenience, personal experiences, and innovative products that align with their values.

Currently only available in San Francisco, The Lobby delivers to over 50 companies, including most of the Bay Area’s top tech startups. Holtz plans to expand to additional cities including New York and Los Angeles early next year.
