Alexandra Wilkis Wilson Joins GLAMSQUAD As CEO

GLAMSQUAD, the premier on-demand beauty service app today announced the key appointment of Alexandra Wilkis Wilson as president and chief executive officer. Wilson joins from Gilt where she was co-founder and strategic advisor.

GLAMSQUAD, the premier on-demand beauty service app today announced the key appointment of Alexandra Wilkis Wilson as president and chief executive officer. Wilson joins from Gilt where she was co-founder and strategic advisor.

Founded on the concept that getting ready should be a whole lot easier, GLAMSQUAD is the premiere app-based service that delivers high-quality and affordable at-home beauty services by experienced stylists. At GLAMSQUAD, Wilson will help lead the expansion into new service lines, geographies and revenue streams.

Wilson brings 15 years of international experience in luxury goods, retail and finance to her role at GLAMSQUAD. She held prior positions at Bulgari, Louis Vuitton and Merrill Lynch. Most recently as co-founder of Gilt, Wilson helped lead the innovative online shopping destination in a variety of executive roles from its start-up phase to a global online retail platform with over 9 million members and over 1,000 employees. While there, Wilson variously served as chief merchandising officer, head of national sales for Gilt City, head of brand relations, and most recently, head of strategic alliances. Wilson will continue in the role of strategic advisor at Gilt.

Wilson has extensive experience serving on the advisory boards of venture-backed consumer technology businesses including Birchbox and Rent the Runway, and is also an active angel investor. Through a number of organizations including Techstars and Venture for America, she occupies a prominent role in the New York City startup community as a mentor to many emerging entrepreneurs. Wilson is a passionate supporter of entrepreneurship and female empowerment in the workplace and is frequently invited to speak on the subject. She has given keynote addresses at numerous technology, marketing and retail conferences as well as for corporations, universities and women’s organizations throughout the United StatesWilson is the co-author of the New York Times bestseller By Invitation Only: How We Built Gilt and Changed the Way Millions Shop, about her experience as an early stage entrepreneur.

Concurrent with Wilson’s arrival, co-founder Victoria Eisner will assume the role of GLAMSQUAD Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer. Eisner noted, “Alexandra is the perfect addition to the GLAMSQUAD team and the fact that she has chosen to work with us on her next entrepreneurial venture is a testament to our early traction and execution. She deeply understands our mission to make getting ready a whole lot easier and represents and understands our core customer. Beyond that she is a born leader, a founder, an entrepreneur and an inspiration to businesswomen everywhere.”

Wilson and Eisner will assume their new roles on September 1, 2014.
