Ashley D.: Hi Niya! I want to know how you figured out what it is that you’re really passionate about and how did you turn that into a career?
Niya Brown Matthews: The easy way for me to figure out what it was I really wanted to do was to :
1) What you don’t want to do…this will help you narrow down your search
2) Think about what drives you, ideally those things will make you lose track of time
I enjoyed helping people, and because I was already in the real estate career path, I decided to start helping low-income families find homes, which then turned into helping the mothers and daughters with their self esteem, which then formed into a career of being a Motivational Speaker, Humanitarian, Author. Today, my main focus to inspire, encourage and make an impact within our community and help promote our women.
Linda W.: I just started a direct sales business. I want to get more exposure for my business what are some ways to do this?
Niya Brown Matthews: Capitalize on what’s FREE and that’s Social Media, every aspect of it. Everyone is on their phones these days. Make it easy, simple direct approach. Create an APP, that also drives them to your website, stay consistent with your posts, keep them intrigued with the information.

Niya Brown Matthews is easily one of Atlanta’s most dynamic businesswomen taking the world by storm. The world may know her by her fashionable clothes that has been featured on the television program “The Wendy Williams Show,” or from being the wife of former NFL wide receiver and Super Bowl Champion Eric Matthews of the Green Bay Packers but she is truly much more. Niya is not only an author, motivational speaker, humanitarian, real estate professional, wife and mother, she is a two-time cancer survivor. It is ultimately her compassion and humanitarian outreach work that significantly impacts so many lives across the globe.
“The Boss In You” was written by Niya to empower and educate women and young girls, especially young Black girls, on how to overcome their life obstacles, personal setbacks and various challenges which they encounter in order to become successful in their careers, relationships and/or personal lives. The book was inspired because the litany of negative images of women that are forced in front of her teenage daughter and her friends like non-talented reality TV stars, Instagram models and more. The book isn’t just a book to be read, but it is also a workbook with dedicated space at the end of each chapter for readers to take notes and make individual assessments on how to improve their own lives.
