Attorney and capital raising coach Jenny Kassan is hosting the event “Fund and Fuel Your Dreams: An Event for Women Who Want to Raise the Right Money from the Right Investors” on Sept. 8-9 at Preservation Park in downtown Oakland, Calif.

Kassan will bring together mission-driven women entrepreneurs in diverse industries from throughout the country to learn the tools and strategies for raising capital on their own terms. This event is not about how to raise money in the Silicon Valley style where investors expect their investees to grow as fast as possible at any cost so that the company can be acquired in 5-7 years and the investors make a killing.

“This event is about designing a capital raising strategy customized to each entrepreneur’s unique situation, values, structure and goals,” Kassan said.

Attendees will leave with a step-by-step plan and resources to take the plan forward. The event also includes an opportunity to meet investors that are interested in supporting mission-driven women entrepreneurs.

Kassan has more than two decades of experience as an entrepreneur and attorney and is certified as a coach by the International Association of Women in Coaching. She has helped her clients raise millions of dollars and raised several hundred thousand for her own business. Kassan earned her J.D. from Yale Law School and a masters degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of California at Berkeley.

She was recently appointed to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Advisory Committee on Small and Emerging Companies.  She submitted the petition to the SEC that led to the passage of the 2012 JOBS Act and was present at the White House signing ceremony.
