Jessica Schaefer is drawing on her recent experience as Vice President of Corporate Communications at Point72 and its venture-capital arm, Point72 Ventures, to launch Bevel, a public relations consultancy that will connect clients with stakeholder communities, leveraging traditional mediums and breaking through the new age media. The firm will focus on fintech, hedge funds, enterprise software, venture capital firms, big data, artificial intelligence (A.I.), professional services, and regulatory technology.

“There is an explosion of new firms now focused on big data, AI and fintech,” Schaefer, CEO and founder of Bevel, said. “We’re now seeing traditional news sources create beats exclusively focused on fintech and big data, but until now the same thing hasn’t been happening on the PR consultancy side. Our expertise in those areas will fill that void.”

Schaefer most recently led communications and marketing for Point72 Ventures, the early stage-venture capital arm of Point72, which invests in disruptive technologies, and was Vice President of Corporate Communications at Point72, the family office managing the assets of billionaire and philanthropist, Steve Cohen. She was responsible for raising awareness of the new brand, Point72, formerly S.A.C. Capital, to attract the brightest and best talent in the industry. Bevel will continue to work on communications for Point72 Ventures and certain of its portfolio companies, including Acorns Grow.

Prior to Point72, Schaefer had multiple sales and marketing roles at Moody’s Analytics which included Head of Marketing Communications. She helped build the firm’s reputation and establish Moody’s Analytics among clients and investors as a leading player in risk technology and economic research. She started her career at Prosek Partners, a leading financial services firm, where she was Senior Account Executive in the Financial Services practice. Her clients included First New York Securities, Jefferies, Lenox Advisors, OppenheimerFunds, RBC, RBS, Sterling National Bank, and Swiss Re.

Schaefer graduated summa cum laude from Quinnipiac University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. She received her MBA in Finance from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch while working full-time at Prosek Partners. She has received multiple awards for her work including the most recent PR News Rising Stars 30 under 30 and Moody’s Rising Star Award.

Bevel will partner with Cognito, a global finance and technology focused PR and marketing firm, to provide clients with a full suite of offerings, including marketing communications, media relations, advertising and media buying.
